Thavasi Vijayakumar joined CCI’s Technical Service team in August of 2019 and is our SENIOR TECHNICAL CONSULTANT.

Graduating in India in 1984 with an engineering degree in textile technology, Vijay, as he is known, is one of those unique individuals from that generation who possesses a mix of real, in-depth, hands-on technical knowledge with senior management experience running a world class spinning mill in Indonesia with over 600,000 spindles.

His mill produced high quality knitting yarns for some of the most important international brands in our industry and consistently used over 10,000 tonnes per month of US cotton for the last 15 years. What Vijay has forgotten about processing US cotton is probably more than what many of us learn throughout our careers.

With a platform based around the 8 years he spent early in his career working as a Service Engineer for an important Rieter and LMW sales agent, his rise through the ranks to reach the pinnacle of his career as a Technical Director prior to joining our team has given him an unparalleled knowledge of both the art and the science of spinning US Upland cotton.

His expertise has been recognized not only by CCI, but by the R&D teams of Rieter, Suessen, Uster, Loepfe and LMW, who have all tapped into his knowledge in their own search to optimise the performance of their machinery and equipment.

Vijay has done it all in a stellar career and is a born teacher who generously loves to share his knowledge and experience with the industry.
